Ceiling Fan Installation Brisbane
Brisbane summers don't ease off gently. From the humid stretch between November and March through to those still, sticky nights on the Southside, a house without decent air movement gets uncomfortable fast.

That's why ceiling fan installation is one of the most requested electrical jobs we get, and also one of the jobs most often done badly by unlicensed installers working off a ceiling rose that was never rated to carry a fan's weight or vibration.
01Why Brisbane properties need reliable fans
Brisbane's subtropical climate means most homes run fans nine or ten months of the year, not just over a few hot weeks. That constant use wears fans harder than in cooler states, which is part of why we see so many failing units on service calls across Chermside, Carindale, Wynnum and the inner Southside alike.
Older Queenslanders and post-war homes often have ceiling roses never designed to take a fan. Additions and converted patios frequently have no existing wiring at all. Outdoor entertaining areas need a fan rated for weather exposure, not an indoor unit bolted under a patio roof.
02Types of ceiling fans we install
- 01Standard indoor fans sized to the room, DC motor options for lower running costs
- 02Fans with integrated or attachable light kits
- 03Outdoor and alfresco rated fans for patios and verandas
- 04Remote-control and wall-control configurations
- 05Replacement of wobbling or noisy builder-grade units
03The installation process
We confirm the mounting point can carry the fan's weight and vibration, run fresh wiring where none exists, fit a rated fan canopy and bracket, balance the blades, and test across all speeds before we leave. Every installation is done to AS/NZS 3000 by a licensed electrician, with the work tested and left clean.
04Frequently asked questions
- Q1. Can a handyman install my ceiling fan?
- Connecting a fan to fixed wiring is electrical work. In Queensland it must be done by a licensed electrician, both for safety and for your insurance if anything goes wrong later.
- Q2. Do I need a fan rated for outdoor use under a patio?
- Yes. Patio roofs still expose a fan to moisture and humidity. We fit wet-rated or outdoor-rated models where exposure demands it.
